Abstract
extended hours, rotating shifts, and night duties. Although these schedules provide
continuous patient care, they frequently pose considerable difficulties for healthcare
professionals in achieving a healthy work-life balance. This study investigates the impact of
work schedules on work-life balance among healthcare workers in Tanzania. Data was
collected from 90 healthcare workers using a quantitative descriptive methodology and
structured questionnaires. The results indicate that rotating shifts and prolonged working
hours are significantly linked to emotional weariness, burnout, fatigue, and disruption of
family life. Almost fifty per cent of the participants indicated that their timetables adversely
impacted their personal connections. Notwithstanding these obstacles, numerous
professionals continued to derive significance from their occupations. The research
underscores the pressing necessity for adaptable scheduling frameworks, mental health
assistance, and legislative modifications to enhance staff sustainability and elevate the
quality of patient care.
