Abstract
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) is a scheme that was launched by the Government of India in 2015 to address gender discrimination in sex-selection, achieve survival and security of girl child, promote their education and bring about a change in the mindsets of society towards girl children. This chapter reviews the level of knowledge and awareness of women’s issues in the Dadri vicinity in the District of Gautam Budha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh regarding BBBP. Knowledge and awareness have been taken from a pilot study carried out in the region. Out of the total, 71.4% people know about BBBP scheme, and media played the most important role for disseminating the information about the scheme and campaign among the masses i.e. television, radio and newspaper. However, information does not convert into actual implementations of the scheme and awareness of respondents about BBBP scheme. In reality, 3/4th of the respondents hasn’t attended any campaign. More than 91.7% do not know about the activities related to BBBP scheme. Knowledge regarding equal education opportunity, equal parental investment in daughter is significantly deviant among the respondents.
