Abstract

Police organizations are complex and high-pressure environments in which police
officers must enforce the law and also provide frontline services, mediate and also
be partners of the community. In the Indian context, the experience of authoritarian
behavior, lack of empathy and communication barriers, often color the perceptions
of the people about the police, undermining citizen trust and cooperation. These
problems are also closely connected with the lack of behavioral competencies such
as the lack of communication, emotional intelligence, conflict management, stress
management, in addition to the chronic nature of occupational stress, and poor
work-life balance. ("Action research," n.d.)
