In aviation, safety is non-negotiable. It directly impacts operational efficiency,
passenger confidence, and how reliable the system is overall (ICAO, 2018). But as
air traffic keeps growing and airport infrastructure expands, maintaining safety gets
trickier—especially during development work. That's where the Safety Management
System (SMS) comes in. It's a structured framework that aviation organizations use
to continuously identify, assess, and reduce risks (ICAO, 2018).
