A digital payment is an electronic money exchange or financial operations procedure between the parties with ease, convenience, speed, and security compared to traditional cash methods. It helps in reducing banking structural cost, travel cost and handling exact change of payments. India’s digital payment ecosystem has started taking the shape of a cashless economy and inclusive growth with the induction of affordable smartphones, ease of internet connectivity and specially country’s own Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system. With the induction of “RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) and IMPS (Immediate Payment Service)”, the Reserve Bank of India laid the foundation of India’s digital payment ecosystem (PIB, 2026). This ecosystem has been proven a boon during the Covid-19 lockdown, where there was a complete restriction on any kind of tangible transactions, and it helped in easing the common man's life in paying off daily essentials through digital platforms, which further resulted in a mass adoption of digital payment(Tounekti et al., 2022)
